NFC Mobile

Currently, Google Pay has been launched in Bangladesh. But not everyone knows how to use it. Most people in Bangladesh do not have NFC supported mobile phones. So it is not possible to make transactions through Google Pay. This service has already been launched through City Bank. But most people are not able to make transactions due to the lack of NFC supported mobile phones. Today we will know what NFC actually is?

NFC

A wireless communication technology that has become very popular is called NFC (NFC-Near Field Communications); which is the result of the efforts of the “NFC Forum” established by Sony, Nokia and Philips in 2004.

NFC or Near Field Communication is a set of protocols for wireless data communication between two devices or objects at very close distances (4 centimeters to a maximum of 10 centimeters) using radio signals. Data can be exchanged at a maximum speed of 424 kilobits/second using this protocol. It uses RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) technology to communicate data in the 13.56 MHz band.

NFC technology-enabled devices include smartphones, digital cameras, televisions, terminals, credit/debit cards, tickets, etc. Recently, communication using this protocol has become popular. An NFC chip can store a small amount of necessary data. For successful communication, two NFC-enabled devices or objects are placed within a distance of 4 centimeters or touch each other. Devices that use NFC technology can be active or active and passive. Passive devices store information that can be read by other devices; however, the device itself cannot read the information stored in it. For example, a signboard can be used. The signboard can disclose the information stored in it to others but cannot use or process this information itself.

Active devices can store information, read information from other devices, and transmit or send information and exchange information if necessary. To ensure information security, NFC establishes a secure channel for data communication and uses data encryption technology. A password can be used to prevent anyone else from using an NFC-enabled device even if it is stolen. Currently, this technology is widely used in mobile phones, credit or debit cards, various types of toll payment cards, etc.

In order for two devices or objects with NFC technology to communicate with each other using this protocol, one must have an NFC reader/writer and the other must have an NFC tag. An NFC reader/writer is an active device that generates radio signals to communicate with an NFC tag. On the other hand, an NFC tag is a passive device that receives power from the magnetic field of a nearby active device. It is a thin device that contains a chip, memory and antenna.

Uses of NFC technology

In debit/credit cards
In toll payment cards at toll plazas
In health cards to store various health-related information
In bus/train fare payment cards, etc.

Uses in Bangladesh

To enable NFC technology in Bangladesh, you need to buy or use an NFC supported mobile phone. Then you can easily make transactions through Google Pay. Then you don’t need to carry a debit card, you can control it directly through your mobile.
